Matrika didn’t always want to be an entertainer. She was happy studying dinosaurs, and was going to make that her career. She was always shy and was told on more than one occasion growing up “You don’t have the voice for singing.” But at the age of thirteen her mom said something that would change her life forever. “You should try acting. You know all your movies by heart. There’s a community theater holding auditions, you should try.” From there as they say is history. She fell in love with the world but most of all the people.

She was always a story teller. Since a young age she was writing tales of all kinds. A book report only deepened that passion. Tying in her love of theatre she began writing her own. “You can’t write a good book when you’re dyslexic.” They said. Being told she couldn’t do something only made her more determined to prove them wrong. She published her first novel with a publishing house and there are more down the road. “I love writing. Having people escape, even if it’s for an hour or days, getting lost in a world that I’ve built is an indescribable feeling.”

“It’s true when they say there’s no place like New York City. Returning to the city after years away, I can honesty say I love it here. Plus if I need an escape there are so many beautiful places only hours away.”
